MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University men's basketball coach Jay Smith announced the signing of two athletes to letters-of-intent.
Joining the Chippewas next season will be 6-6 guard/forward Sefton Barrett of Brampton, Ont., and 6-5 guard/forward Robert Sevalia of New Orleans, La.
Barrett played at Chinguacousy Secondary High School and then attended Champlain Regional College in Lennoxville, Que., for a year.
"We addressed our need at the wing by signing Sefton," Smith said. "He is one of the premier players coming out of Toronto. Sefton can come in and contribute immediately. He gives us athleticism, quickness, the ability to score and good defense."
Sevalia prepped at Saint Augustine High School in New Orleans and then played two seasons at Midland (Texas) College. At Midland, Sevalia was an honorable mention All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference pick last season after leading the team in both scoring (15.9) and rebounding (6.1). He averaged 7.4 points and 5.1 rebounds as a freshman.
"Rob comes in with two years of good junior college experience," Smith said. "He will give us good perimeter defense. Rob was asked to primarily be a defender as a freshman and a scorer last season. He has the potential to play a couple of positions for us."
