CMU Field Hockey Falls To Indiana, 1-0

The Central Michigan University field hockey team (0-1; 0-0 Mid-American) fell to Indiana in its season-opening contest Saturday afternoon, 1-0. The match took place at Mellencamp Pavillion in Bloomington, Ind.
The lone goal of the contest was scored by Indiana's Kayla Bashore at 47:22 of the contest. Notching assists on the goal were Lydia Schrott and Mallory Reabold.
Leading the CMU offense was Kristy Reed with four shots, three of those being on goal. CMU goalkeeper Laura Plese made three saves in the match while allowing only the single score.
CMU outshot the Hoosiers, 10-9, and also had more penalty corners, 7-3, but could not find a way to get on the board.
CMU continues its seven-game road trip to start the season with a trip to Northwestern next weekend. The Chippewas battle the Wildcats on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. CDT.
