Volleyball Drops Second Straight Match

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Despite taking the first two games of the match, the Central Michigan University volleyball team (0-2, 0-0) was defeated 3-2 by IPFW in the Super 8 Classic on Saturday afternoon.
The Chippewas took the first two games, 30-24 and 31-29 before dropping the next three to the Mastadons, 24-30, 27-30 and 15-12.
With the loss, it marks the second straight season that CMU has started 0-2.
Senior Liz Passen played well for the Chippewas recording a .588 hitting percentage with 11 kills. She also had a team-high eight blocks, one solo.
Emily Lovejoy and Mellisa Reynolds also played well for CMU, notching 18 and 16 kills respectively.
The Chippewas return to action tonight at 7 p.m., as they take on Illinois-Chicago in the final game of the Super 8 Classic in Rose Arena.
