ORLANDO, Fla. - The Central Michigan University volleyball team (4-3, 0-0 Mid-American Conference) had its four-game win streak snapped by Georgia Southern (4-4) on Friday afternoon in the Central Florida Fall Tournament, 3-1.
The Chippewas lost a close battle in the first game 30-28 due to the Eagles hitting at a .385 clip. In game two, CMU's poor .139 hitting percentage led to a 20-30 defeat.
Game three saw the Chippewas attack percentage struggle once again but pull out a 30-25 victory. CMU hit .130 but GSU had an even worse .075.
The Eagles closed out the match in game four, 30-26, despite the Chippewas hitting at their best percentage of the match, .285.
CMU finished the match with their second lowest hitting percentage of the season at .195, only doing worse in a season-opening loss to Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Emily Lovejoy had her third straight double-double, notching 15 kills and 13 digs.
Tamara Fant led the team with 17 kills while Meghan Moore continued her streak of ten or more kills with 12. She now has notched double-digit kills in every game this season.
Shaleene Glombowski had a solid performance in the loss, assisting on 55 CMU kills.
The Eagles were led by Martina Veiglova, who had a match-high 23 kills.
The Chippewas continue play in the UCF Fall Tournament tomorrow, taking on host Central Florida at 1 p.m., and MAC-foe Buffalo at 5 p.m.
