Soccer Snags Overtime Win

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Central Michigan University soccer team weathered one of the top teams in the Mid-American Conference and severe weather as it beat Ball State in double overtime on Friday night, 1-0.
The Chippewas improve to 3-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in MAC play. Ball State is 5-3-1 for the year and takes its first MAC loss at 3-1.
Rachel Snyder stepped up in the second overtime to lift the Chippewas to victory. The sophomore forward beat Ball State's netminder Megan Swafford at the 106:06 mark of the game. She was one of four Chippewas with two shots for the game. Jacquie Lacek led the Chippewas with three shots.
Anne Decker got her second shutout in only her fourth start. The freshman backstop made five saves and played all 106:06 minutes.
The Chippewas outshot the Cardinals, 14-13. Three of CMU's shots came in the second overtime. CMU had five shots on goal for the game compared to Ball State's four.
CMU returns to action when it hosts defending MAC champion Miami on Sunday, September 28. Match time at the CMU Soccer Complex is set for 1 p.m.
