Quotes:
New Hampshire Head Coach Sean McDonnell: We talked about what a great opportunity it was for us to come in and play a Division IA opponent.
I watched the Michigan game film and saw how CMU ran behind its big offensive line and that worried me coming into this game. My worst nightmare came true midway through the third quarter when CMU started handing off to number 15 and 29 and running the ball all over us.
They did a nice job of running their four-minute offense, but we found a way to stop them and called a couple of timeouts to get the ball back.
We ran a wide receiver screen play that we had worked on in practice and it worked well. On the final play of the game, we had a play that leaves us some options it just didn't work out.
Central Michigan Head Coach Mike DeBord:
I talked to the team at halftime about having to play smart and play hard in the second half. I thought the defense did an unbelieveable job except for one play in the second half. UNH has an offense that is tough to defend and overall it is a very good team.
Jerry Seymour...wow! We talk a lot about winning at home and Seymour really stepped up today to help us get the victory. In training camp, we got to see how exciting he can be. And, I think our fans got their first glimpse at that today. Even tough he doesn't have height, I think that works in his favor. With his quickness and balance, people have trouble getting a hit on him.
I think our defense made some good adjustments at halftime. The key thing was that our coach and players did a good job of recognizing what UNH was trying do and doing a better job at stopping that. It has so many different formations and sets that it's tough to have a good idea of what it is trying to do.
