Kent State (21) at Central Michigan (24) October 2, 2004 Notes and Quotes
Quotes:
KENT STATE
Coach Doug Martin:
"We have been having the same mistakes that we have been having in the kicking game. We really have a pretty good team, but until things get fixed with the kicking game, we won't be able to win."
On Dan Bauzin's blocked field goal with 35 seconds left: "Travis (Mayle) just hit a low kick. Both of the kicks that were blocked really never had any height at all."
"We changed some things up on special teams this week in terms of personnel. We also changed our entire punt scheme from last week. We'll keep fiddling with it until we figure it out.
On Travis Mayle: "Travis is a good kicker, and he won a lot of games for us last year."
Quarterback Joshua Cribbs:
"(CMU) switched up their stunts from the last couple of games."
"You just have to continue to keep giving it all you got and keep everything on the field. I leave the kicking game to the coaches, I just want to be able to say that I left it all on the field."
On the 2-minute drill:
"We have great receivers and the linemen really step it up in those 2-minute drills. It has all been coming together, we just haven't been able to finish it off."
Free safety Vashawn Patrick:
On tackling Jerry Seymour: "He is a good running back. He is elusive, quick and has good moves. We worked on tackling him all week in practice."

Quotes:
Defensive End Dan Bazuin:
On his two blocked field goals: "I was going 100 percent and the gap opened up for me. I give credit to the players inside because they were able to take on the blockers."
On the last field goal: "We were just trying to get our mind right because we knew this play would make or break the game."
Coach Brian Kelly:
On the special teams: "Special teams played a huge role in today's game. In a short period of time when you're trying to turn a program around the quickest way is special teams. It will win you a lot of close games like this one.
On Kent Smith: "He showed some toughness and made some plays on that last drive. He made four big plays for us."
On the improvement in defense: "It's an attitude on the defense (that makes the difference) and not the personnel."
On the first MAC win: "It gives us some credibility as we are heading in the right direction."
