YPSILANTI - The Central Michigan University soccer team had its school-record seven-match undefeated streak snapped on Friday afternoon as it fell at Eastern Michigan, 2-0.
The Chippewas are now 6-2-3 in the Mid-American Conference and 8-5-3 overall. CMU plays its final conference match on Sunday at Miami starting at 1 p.m.
CMU now sits in a tied with Kent State for second-place in the MAC. CMU still has a chance to win the conference regular season title as first-place Ohio was defeated by Kent State today. Even though the Chippewas remain in second, the top six teams are only seperated by five points with second through sixth seperated by only two points.
EMU got its first goal in the 25th minute. It was scored by Cyndi Mullins with an assist by Sara Schiffbauer. The Eagles scored their second goal a little over three minutes into the second half, this time by Schiffbauer with an assist from Mullins.
CMU goalkeeper Anne Decker made four saves, while EMU keeper Nikki Allen made six.
The Chippewas out shot and out cornered EMU with two more shots, 12-10, and three more corners, 7-4.
