Football Radio Network Blankets the State of Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT -- If you can't make it to Mount Pleasant for football Saturday, then simply flip on the radio to keep tabs on the Central Michigan University football team.
Fans can follow first-year head coach Brian Kelly and his Chippewa football team as all of their games will air on a 12-station radio network this year. In addition to those 12, stations that receive automated programming from the Michigan Talk Radio Network on their "A" channel will also broadcast Chippewa football.
The network has phenomenal reach throughout the entire state of Michigan. With 92 percent of the state covered, 9.2 million listeners will have the chance to listen to the Chippewas battle through their 2004 schedule, which begins with two Big Ten clashes at Indiana (Sept. 4) and at Michigan State (Sept. 11).
More impressive is the fact that these 12 stations reach 100 percent of the listenership in northern and central Michigan. It also reaches out to 91 thousand, or 96 percent, of CMU's alumni in the state.
Ed Phelps will be returning for his 28th season as the play-by-play man for the Chippewas but Herb Deromedi, CMU's athletic director, will relinquish his role as the color commentator -- a position he has handled for the past nine years. Kurt Wilson, the voice of the CMU men's basketball team, will step in for Deromedi.
