MOUNT PLEASNT - Multiple missed offensive opportunities forced the Central Michigan University soccer team into settling for a 0-0 tie with Toledo on Sunday afternoon.
CMU moves to 4-4-2 on the season and is now 2-1-2 in the Mid-American Conference. Toledo is 4-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the MAC.
The Chippewas dominated the match, out shooting the Rocket, 30-5. CMU also held the advantage in corner kicks with seven compared to five for the Rockets. CMU hit the post three times and put multiple chances high or wide of the net.
The CMU defense limited Toledo to just three shots on goals, including allowing none in the second half or the second overtime.
CMU goalkeeper Anne Decker recorded her second-straight shutout and the third shutout of the season. In just a season and a half, Decker is now CMU's all-time leader in shutouts with nine. The old record was held by Kari Alexander with eight.
CMU continues its five-match homestand next weekend with two more MAC contests. The Chippewas play Northern Illinois on Friday at 3 p.m., and than battles rival Western Michigan on Sunday at 1 p.m.
