Chippewa Women Fall at Ohio, 71-70

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University trailed for more than 39 minutes here Saturday afternoon but still managed to pull out a 71-70 women's basketball win over Central Michigan University.
Kristian Kirkpatrick's layup in the final second of play gave the Bobcats the Mid-American Conference win.
It was OU's first lead since a 2-0 margin with 19:37 to go in the first half.
CMU held a 42-27 halftime time lead but OU slowly whittled that margin in the second half until Kirkpatrick's game winner.
Four Chippewas scored in double digits, led by Lindy Hatfield's 14 and Dana Westover's 12. Casey Manning added 11 and Ann Skufca 10.
CMU meshed 26-of-45 from the field for a sizzling 57.8 percent. However, 21 turovers hurt the Chippewas.
Game-scoring laurels went to Simone Redd of OU with 18. Lindsay Wright added 11 and Lauren Revesz 10 for the Bobcats.
OU hit 31-of-68 from the field for 45.6 percent and held a slight rebound margin 31-30.
Ohio is now 7-8 for the season and 3-1 in the MAC while CMU falls to 7-8 and 1-3.
Next up for CMU is a home game on Tuesday, Jan. 18, against Toledo. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
