Chippewas Lose To Zips, 95-56

AKRON, Ohio - Bubba Walther scored 18 points, Darryl Peterson 17 and Dru Joyce 15 to lead Akron to a 95-56 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday night.
The Zips (11-5, 5-3 Mid-American Conference) built a 52-29 lead at the half by hitting 68 percent of their shots from the field. They hit 59 percent from the field for the game while winning their fourth in a row.
Walther hit 3-of-5 3-pointers, Peterson 2-of-3 and Joyce 5-of-8 as Akron made 15 of its 28 shots behind the arc. The Zips never trailed.
Kevin Nelson was the lone Western Michigan (7-9, 2-6) player in double figures with 17 points.
Akron held a 35-25 advantage in rebounding with Peterson leading the way with seven.
The Zips moved to 8-0 at Rhodes Arena this season. They are off to their best start since opening the 1999-2000 campaign with a 12-3 mark.
