MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University put a halt to a three-game losing streak here Saturday afternoon in resounding fashion.
The Chippewas pounded out a 69-45 Mid-American Conference win over the University at Buffalo before a crowd of 685 in Rose Arena.
CMU is now 3-8 in MAC action and 9-13 for the season. The Bulls fall to 4-18 overall and 2-9 in loop play.
The Chippewas jumped out to a 34-16 halftime lead and kept the pressure on the whole second half for the lopsided win.
CMU shot a nifty 50 percent from the field on 25-of-50 while Buffalo hit just 15-of-44 for 34.1 percent. The Chippewas also grabbed 30 rebounds to 28 for the Bulls thanks to game-high honors for Sharonda Hurd.
Casey Manning was the lone Chippewa in twin figures with 17 points, hitting every shot she took. The junior guard was six-of-six from the field and meshed all five of her free throws. She also had a game-high five assists.
Ten different players scored from CMU with Candace Wilson adding nine and Ann Skufca and Hurd eight apiece.
Buffalo was led by Brooke Meunier with 13, including a perfect three-of-three from behind the arc.
A key factor in the game was turnovers -- normally an Achilles tendon for the Chippewas. However, CMU forced the Bulls into 23 miscues while committing just 10. CMU finished with 10 steals, Hurd collecting four and Chasidy Myers three.
Next up for CMU is a road date with MAC West leader Bowling Green on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
