Chippewa Women Lose at Toledo, 65-51

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Poor shooting from the field sent the Central Michigan University women's basketball team to a 65-51 Mid-American Conference loss here Tuesday night.
The Chippewas shot just 36 percent of 18-of-50 from the field and fell to 8-13 for the season and 2-8 in MAC play.
The Rockets are now 10-11 overall and 6-4 in loop play.
Toledo held a 40-28 lead at the half and the Chippewas could get no closer than 10 in the final 20 minutes -- 59-49 with 4:02 to go on a basket by Lindy Hatfield.
CMU held one lead in the first half, 11-10, on a hoop by Chasidy Myers with 13:50 remaining. The Chippewas were also tied later at 21-21 with 7:42 to go on a basket by Ann Skufca.
Danielle Bishop posted a game-high 20 for UT while Savannah Werner came off the bench to add 12.
Junior Casey Manning and sophomore Ann Skufca led the Chippewas with 10 points each.
CMU held a 34-33 edge in rebounding behind seven caroms from Sharonda Hurd. However, the Chippewas also had 18 turnovers to 13 for the Rockets.
CMU returns home on Saturday for a game against Northern Illinois at 2 p.m.
