Men's Hoops Falls at Miami, 66-49

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami RedHawks started the second half on a 20-0 run and pulled away for a 66-49 win over Central Michigan University on Wednesday night in Millett Hall.
CMU was held scoreless for nearly 10 minutes to start the second frame as the RedHawks pushed an eight-point halftime lead up to a 28-point advantage in cruising to the win.
Miami remains undefeated in Mid-American Conference play at 4-0, 7-5 overall, while the Chippewas dropped their fifth straight for a 2-10, 0-4 MAC mark.
Giordan Watson scored 17 points to lead the Chippewas and Eddie Spencer hit double figures with 10 points.
Miami shot 50 percent from both the floor and three-point range, sinking 23-of-46 field goal attempts and 7-of-14 treys. The Chippewas shot just .380 (19-for-50) from the floor and .300 (6-for-20) from behind the arc.
William Hatcher tallied a game-high 19 points as the only RedHawk in double figures.
Miami outrebounded CMU, 36-23, as Sefton Barrett grabbed a game-high seven boards for the Chippewas.
Next up for the Chippewas is a Saturday road game at preseason MAC favorite Ohio. Tiopff in The Convo is set for 2 p.m.
NOTES:
- The Chippewas turned the ball over 21 times, marking the sixth time in the last eight games that CMU had 20-plus turnovers.
- In four road games in the state of Ohio the Chippewas have yet to break the 50-point barrier.
- CMU has held seven straight opponents under 70 points.
- The 20-0 run by Miami was the largest unanswered run by an opponent this season.
- Eddie Spencer got back into double figures with 10 points after eight straight games in single digits. He also returned to the starting lineup after coming off the bench the past two games.
- CMU made a season-low seven trips to the line. The previous season low was eight in the first meeting against Miami.
