PHILADELPHIA Ontario Sneed accounted for 233 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns as Central Michigan University (6-3 overall) won its fourth straight game, 42-26, at Temple (1-9) on Saturday.

Sneed ran for 140 yards and a score and caught five passes for 93 yards and three touchdowns. His three touchdown receptions tied a CMU single-game record.

Dan LeFevour completed 18-of-22 passes for 268 yards and a career high-tying four touchdowns. He also tacked on 49 rushing yards and rushing touchdown.

By the time LeFevour and Sneed hooked up for their third touchdown of the first half on Saturday, CMU led 28-0 and had out-gained the Owls 314 yards to 10. The Chippewas finished the game with 499 yards of offense, their second-highest total of the season, and averaged 8.8 yards per play.

A deflected LeFevour pass was intercepted on the game’s opening drive, but the Chippewas controlled nearly the remainder of the first half.

Following the interception, Temple lined up for a 50-yard field goal on its opening possession. The snap sailed over kicker Jake Brownell’s head, however, and CMU took over at the Temple 40-yard line. On the third play, LeFevour tossed a swing pass to Sneed who weaved his way in for an 11-yard score.

The Chippewa defense forced a punt, and LeFevour led the offense on a four-play, 69-yard drive that culminated in a 30-yard scoring pass to Obed Ctoute. LeFevour was flushed to his left and launched a pass off his back foot just before crossing the line of scrimmage that found a wide-open Ctoute in the end zone.

LeFevour accounted for all 69 yards on the march, also connecting with Sam Williams for a 26-yard gain and running for 13 yards one play prior to the touchdown.

The Chippewas then capitalized on a Temple fumble, covering 78 yards in six plays, the final of which was a shovel pass to Sneed that turned into a 30-yard touchdown. Rick Albreski’s third point-after of the first quarter made it 21-0 with 24 seconds remaining in the opening stanza.

CMU and Temple traded touchdowns late in the second quarter to make it 28-7 at the break. LeFevour and Sneed hooked up for a 30-yard touchdown that stretched the CMU lead to 28-0, but the Owls answered with a 10-play, 72-yard drive that Adam DiMichele capped with a 10-yard touchdown throw to Bruce Francis just six seconds before halftime.

LeFevour and Sneed ran for touchdowns covering 6 yards and 65 yards, respectively, in the second half, while DiMichele threw a pair of touchdown passes and caught a touchdown pass for Temple after halftime.

 Tim Brown ran for 101 yards and threw a touchdown pass for Temple, while DiMichele was 24-of-35 passing for 228 yards and three scores.

CMU closes out the home portion of the schedule on Friday, hosting Western Michigan at 7 p.m. Comcast Local will televise the contest.
