MOUNT PLEASANT – Three student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Central Michigan University volleyball team next season.
Kaitlyn Cooper, Lauren Krupsky and Samantha Otte will join CMU in the fall as the Chippewas look to continue their amazing turnaround from this season. CMU (17-13 overall, 7-9 in the Mid-American Conference) had a +12.5 game overall turnaround this year, which is the best mark in conference history.
Cooper is a 5-8 outside hitter from Yale, Mich., where she went Yale High School. All-MAC setter Courtney Kersten also came to CMU from Yale. Krupsky is a Livonia Churchill HS who is a 5-10 outside hitter. The Livonia, Mich. native holds the MHSAA Class A record for kills in a season and earned second team all-state honors last year. Otte is a 6-1 middle blocker from Fremont, Wis. The Weyauwege-Fremont High School product led her team to a state title in 2005 and was a two-time all-state honoree.
“All three players have experienced a lot of success in their prep careers and will continue to build upon the success of our 2006 team,” head coach Erik Olson said. “CMU is on its way to building a championship volleyball program, and we couldn’t be more excited about the addition of these three young women.”
