Volleyball Falls at No. 15 Ohio, 3-0

ATHENS, Ohio The Central Michigan University volleyball team saw its eight-match winning streak snapped as CMU dropped a 3-0 (30-16, 30-20, 30-21) decision to No. 15 Ohio on Saturday night.
The Chippewas wrapped up the regular season at 21-9, 10-6 in the Mid-American Conference. CMU is the No. 6 seed in the MAC Tournament and open the event by hosting No. 11 seed Toledo in the first round. That match is set for Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Rose Arena at 7 p.m.
The Bobcats showed why they are ranked 15th nationally, tallying a .383 attacking percentage and 53 kills. OU also held the Maroon and Gold to a hitting mark of .162 and just 39 kills.
Kate Fissel led CMU with 11 kills while Sarah Warner added 10 and Whitney Evers recorded nine. Evers also finished with the Chippewas top attacking mark at .438. Courtney Kersten dished out 34 assists in the loss.
Alexis Lonneman led the defense with 14 digs while Kersten added 10 digs. Up front, four Chippewas tallied two blocks apiece to share the team high. Evers added the squad’s lone service ace.
Ohio finished with more assists (49-38), service aces (3-1), blocks (8.0-5.0) and digs (50-42).
