MOUNT PLEASANT -- With cold temperatures outside, the Akron Zips (17-4, 8-1 Mid-American) have remained hot, riding an eight-game winning streak into Wednesday night's contest with the visiting Central Michigan University Chippewas (8-13, 3-6 Mid-American). Tipoff in Rhodes Arena is set for 7 p.m.
Live video of the game will be available on the CMU Sports Zone.
Akron holds a 20-12 edge in the series and the Zips have won five straight meetings.
It will be a game of percentages as in MAC action, Akron leads the league in defensive field goal percentage allowing just a .403 mark by the opponents. CMU meanwhile allows its opponents to shoot a league-high .493 against its defense. Offensively, Akron is also the top shooting team while hitting its shots at a .485 clip.
Wednesday's game opens a stretch of games that has CMU playing four of its next five away from Rose Arena.
