Volleyball Falls At Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. An off night on offense allowed Michigan State to hand the Central Michigan University volleyball team a 3-0 (30-22, 30-24, 30-25) loss on Saturday night in East Lansing.
The Chippewas (9-3) hit a season-low .049 and tallied just 31 kills in the match while making 26 errors. The Spartans (9-3) finished with a .236 attacking percentage and had 44 kills in the contest.
CMU had just one player record double-digit kills as Kate Fissel finished with 11. Next was Sarah Warner with seven kills while Whitney Evers had five. Courtney Kersten tallied 23 assists in the loss. MSU was led by Katie Johnson with a match-high 17 kills.
CMU’s defense was led by Alexis Lonneman with a match-high 13 digs. At the net, Evers had a match-high six blocks while Kaitlyn Hurt had four rejections. Lisa Johnson led the squad with two service aces.
In the team stats, Michigan State finished with more kills (44-31), assists (40-30), service aces (8-3), blocks (11.0-8.0) and a better hitting percentage (.236-.049). Both teams tallied 40 digs apiece.
The Chippewas open their conference schedule with Ball State at home this Thursday, Sept. 20. The match is at Rose Arena and is set to start at 7 p.m.
