CMU Partnering with Celebration Cinema for Semi-Pro Night

MOUNT PLEASANT Central Michigan University and Celebration Cinema are partnering to host Semi-Pro Night in Rose Arena for the Chippewas’ men’s basketball game against Ball State Wednesday night.
Flick, the official mascot of Celebration Cinema, will be on hand to distribute posters, shirts, foam fingers, basketballs and a variety of other items promoting the film “Semi-Pro.”
A number of special promotions will also be held during the contest, with fans having the opportunity to take home CMU basketball t-shirts among other prizes.
“Semi-Pro,” starring Will Ferrell, Andre Benjamin and Woody Harrelson, is a comedy based on the fictional Flint Tropics franchise in the American Basketball Association. Ferrell plays the team’s owner, Jackie Moon, who must turn the Tropics, the league’s worst team, into a winner if the team is to survive the ABA’s merger with the NBA.
Tipoff of Wednesday’s game is set for 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Comcast Local and the CMU Public Broadcasting Network. CMU Sports Zone subscribers can also watch a live stream of the game on cmuchippewas.com.
