Kellermann finished 6-of-10 from the floor and hit a pair of threes to go with eight rebounds and two steals in his best performance of the season. Jalin Thomas (13 points), Jordan Bitzer (12), Robbie Harman (11) and Marko Spica (10) also finished in double figures.
Thomas equaled Kellermann's eight boards to pace all players. Harman had a game-high six assists.
Amir Rashid, making his first start in the Maroon and Gold, finished with seven points, three assists and three steals.
CMU jumped out to a 26-8 lead 14 minutes in on the strength of an 11-0 run midway through the first half. The Chippewa lead extended to as many as 23 late in the opening frame, thanks to 16 CMU points off 16 CSU turnovers. Central led at the break, 36-16.
The Chippewa lead was 31 five minutes into the second frame on a Harman swipe and score and reached as many as 42 on a three-point play by Finis Craddock at the 3:09 mark.
The Chippewas connected on 52 percent of their field goals and 40 percent of its tries from distance (8-of-20) and hit on 18-of-22 free throws (82 percent). The Cougars shot 34 percent from the floor and 31 percent from long range while hitting 8-of-15 tries from the charity stripe (53 percent).
CMU outrebounded CSU, 35-23, and forced 25 turnovers while committing just 16.
The Chippewas will head to Illinois State on Saturday to start a span of six straight contests on the road. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m., CT.
