MAC Championship Game History

Friday, Dec. 4 will mark the 13th playing of the Mid-American Conference Championship Game. Starting in 1997, the MAC Championship Game has hosted the representative from the East and West divisions. This is Central Michigan's third appearance in the game and Ohio's second. Both of Ohio's appearances have come against the Chippewas.
The MAC Championship Game has been held at Ford Field in Detroit since 2004. Before 2004, the game was played at campus sites.
Former MAC member Marshall won five of the first six conference title games. Central Michigan is making its third appearance in the MAC Championship Game in the past four seasons, claiming wins in 2006 and 2007. The Chippewas have six total MAC football titles. Ohio has five, with its most recent in 1968.
