Hurt Earns First Career Weekly MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Senior middle blocker Kaitlyn Hurt was named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Hurt earned Sam Houston State Invitational Most Valuable Player honors last weekend and led the Chippewas to a 4-0 week, including four sweeps. Hurt tallied 35 kills (2.92) and six aces (0.50) to go with 11 blocks (0.92) and eight digs (0.67).
The senior middle blocker tallied nine kills in just 14 swings (.571) against Illinois-Chicago, added six more kills against North Texas, 11 kills in 18 swings against Lamar (.444) and nine spikes against SHSU.
The award is the first of Hurt’s career.
CMU (7-3) has won six of its last seven matches and opens MAC play this week, when the Chippewas travel to Eastern Michigan and Ohio.
