Schultz Dominates as Chippewas Stay Hot

AKRON, Ohio -- Junior Kaitlyn Schultz finished with a match-best 17 kills and hit .571 to guide Central Michigan to its third straight victory with a 3-1 decision (25-18,19-25,25-21,25-22) over Akron in Mid-American Conference action at Rhodes Arena on Friday.
The Chippewas (10-11, 4-5 MAC) handed the Zips (13-8, 5-4) their third straight loss by holding UA to a .190 hitting percentage.
Sophomores Lindsey Dulude (11 kills) and Val DeWeerd (10) joined Schultz in double-figures and senior Lauren Krupsky had nine kills and three aces. Junior setter Catherine Ludwig had 41 assists.
Senior libero Lisa Johnson paced the Central Michigan defense with 14 digs.
Alex Cocklin led the Zips with 14 kills and Chelsea Harvey had a match-best 16 digs.
CMU travels to face Buffalo on Saturday.
