STORYLINES
• The Chippewas broke a three-game losing streak last Wednesday at Illinois-Chicago, defeating the Flames 62-52. Trey Zeigler came off the bench for the first time in five games and led the Chippewas with 17 points while adding seven rebounds. Senior William McClure recorded his first career double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds.
• The Temple Owls fell out of the top-25 this week after going 1-2 at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Fla., last weekend. The Owls are coming off a 54-51 loss at the hands of the Texas A&M Aggies.

All-Time Series
For the first time in it’s 107 year existence as a men’s basketball program, the Central Michigan Chippewas will square off with the 108-year old program of Temple. The Chippewas are 1,169-1,108-2 all time (.514 winning percentage) while the Owls are 1,742-966 (.643 winning percentage), the seventh most wins in NCAA Division I history.
The Coaches
Ernie Zeigler is now in his fifth season at the helm of Central Michigan. Zeigler has comprised a record of 56-72 during his four-plus seasons. Fran Dunphy is the 17th head coach in Temple’s 108-year history of men’s basketball. Dunphy, now in his fifth season is the first person to serve as the head men’s basketball coach at two Philadelphia Big 5 institutions.
Naismith Watch Enters McGuirk Arena
The Chippewas’ front court will look to contain Temple senior forward Lavoy Allen, who was named to the Naismith preseason watch list, one of 50 players from around the nation to be honored. The senior is second in scoring and rebounding for the Owls, averaging 9.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game through the first five games of the 2010-11 season.
Central Michigan versus the Atlantic 10 Conference
The Chippewas are just 1-6 all-time versus the current teams of the Atlantic 10 conference. Their only win came back in 1974 in it’s one and only meeting with the Richmond Spiders.
Fab Freshman
Freshman guards Trey Zeigler and Derek Jackson ranks amongst the nation’s best freshman in points and steals per game. His 18.8 points per game rank second only behind Kentucky’s Terrance Jones, who is averaging 21.2 points per game. Jackson ranks third among all freshman in Division I basketball with 2.4 steals per game, trailing only T.J. McConnell of Duquesne (3.0) and Stephen Holt of St. Mary’s (3.1).
Honoring Leonard Drake
The team will be wearing black patches Wednesday night in memory of Leonard Drake who passed away earlier this fall. Drake, a CMU Athletics Hall of Fame member and former head men's basketball coach passed away September 29 at the age of 56.
The four-time CMU letterwinner and former captain spent 33 years in college athletics, most recently as a women's basketball assistant coach at Eastern Michigan. He served as CMU's head men's basketball coach for four seasons, from the 1993-94 to 1996-97 seasons. He ranks eighth in CMU history with 1,338 points scored, and his 87.8 free throw percentage in 1975-76 ranked third in the nation. He was inducted into the CMU Athletics Hall of Fame as a student-athlete in 2007. The highlight of his career came in 1975, when he made two free throws with no time remaining on the clock in CMU's 77-75 victory over Georgetown in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
