Central Michigan vs. South Dakota State
Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Ernie Zeigler
Opening Statement….
"I'm really proud of the fact that we were trying to respond to the challenge of trying to recommit ourselves to toughness, particularly in the second half. You have to give South Dakota State all the congratulations because they were able to make a huge shot down the stretch.
On the what was said in the locker room at halftime...
"I just really came at our guys about playing with confidence. We've been so uptight at home, for whatever reason, and that's probably been the best we've shot the ball since the Temple game. Don't get gun shy. You have to take shots to make shots. We got some opportunities in transition and we were able to convert those and finish for layups."
On switching up the starting lineup...
"It's all about trying to ruffle feathers. I think it helped us particularly in the second half and Finis Craddock was very aggressive. He's a more than capable scorer. Hopefully this is one of the positives we can build one as we move forward."
On the play of Finis Craddock...
"He just played with confidence. He has the ability to score in transition and the ability to get to the basket and make plays for himself and others. He hit a couple threes and he had a couple of really good drives as well and was able to score. Hopefully it's something we can get him to sustain."
Senior forward/center William McClure
On the last shot…
"Of course it hurts, but we should have never been in that situation. There were key points throughout the game where we should have been up more than one. The fact that it did come to that and they did hit that shot is a dagger. We've been struggling and we really need a win right now."
On the team's second-half performance...
"We saw spurts on how we actually can play. We need to get to the point where we can do that for 40 minutes."
Sophomore guard Finis Craddock
On his career performance...
"At halftime, coach told us to just come out and shoot with confidence, so I got my open look and shot with confidence."
