MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University men's basketball coach Ernie Zeigler was one of 64 head college coaches participating in Shots from the Heart, a free throw tournament benefiting the Skip Prosser Foundation.
The second annual event, sponsored by CollegeInsider.com, was created to raise awareness for heart disease and to raise money for the foundation started in honor of former Xavier and Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser.
The 64 coaches were placed in a bracket and Zeigler's first-round matchup was against Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford.
Each coach shot 25 free throws with five different point values awarded. Shots one through 10 were worth one point, shots 11 through 15 were 2 points, shots 16 through 20 were three points, shots 21 through 24 were four points and the 25th shot was five points.
Zeigler made 19 of his shots for a total of 41 points.
Ford drained all 25 of his free throws for a maximum 56 points. As a player at Kentucky, Ford held the Wildcats' record for consecutive free throws made in games with 50.
Last year, Zeigler lost in the first round to Stony Brook's Steve Pikiell.
