Postgame notes versus Eastern Michigan
2/17/2011 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
They held Eastern Michigan to 34.5 percent from the floor, the third-best defensive game of the year for the Chippewas. Eastern was limited to 33.3 percent in the earlier meeting this season.
Tonight marked the third time in the last six games (also Akron and Ohio) that four Chippewas scored in double figures. For the first time, one of those scorers was not Jalin Thomas, the league's seventh-leading scorer who was held to a season-low five points. Thomas had a streak of 12 double-digit games snapped.
Trey Zeigler recorded his 10th 20-point game.
Andre Coimbra and Derek Jackson each grabbed seven rebounds - all of which were on the defensive glass.
CMU tallied 13 assists for the third consecutive home game and held an 18-8 advantage in fast-break points.
Antonio Weary reached double-figures for the first time this season, matching a career-high 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from the line.
Morris went 3-of-4 from three-point range, accounting for three of the team's five three-point field goals.
Will McClure blocked four shots for the third time in his career.
Winning back-to-back games for the first time this season, the Chippewas have now won six of their last seven at home, including the last three.
