Dean Earns First Weekly MAC Honor of 2011

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan Sophomore infielder Jordan Dean was named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week on Tuesday, garnering the first weekly honor of the 2011 campaign.

Dean hit the ground running in 2011, picking up eight hits in 14 at bats (.571) in his three games against Florida Gulf Coast. The sophomore smacked a pair of doubles and his first homerun of the season for a .929 slugging percentage and drove in four. He also scored a pair of runs and went 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts.

The Chippewas (2-2) split their series with Florida Gulf Coast on opening weekend, and travel to UNLV this week for another four-game set.
