Central Michigan vs. Ball State
February 26, 2011 (McGuirk Arena)
BSU 65, CMU 58
Ball State Head Coach Billy Taylor
opening statement:
"What can you say? We were down 15 at halftime, down 23 points in the second half. We just weren't competing hard enough. We didn't have the energy, nor the intensity. A 30-point turnaround over the last 14 minutes of the game; I give all the credit to the kids. We put guys in and challenged them to play hard."
CMU Head Coach Ernie Zeigler
opening statement:
"It's an extremely tough loss for us to swallow. You have to give Ball State the absolute accolades. They really came at us there after they called that time out. They were extremely physical and they just imposed their will."
on the difference in the second half:
"We struggled with success. We talked about it during the time out. Now we have to be able to play with poise and play with a lead. We had a total lack of poise when they started to get more physical. We became frustrated and played like we were down."
"It was the best and worst halves in 40 minutes of play. It definitely makes it tough to swallow. We had a good week of practice and saw some guys make some strides. It would have been a really good way to cap this week off if we could've sustained that level of play we had in the first half."
Senior Jalin Thomas
on the mood in the locker room:
"Everybody is upset. It's a tough loss and it's one we never should have lost. We just have to learn from it, but it's going to be a tough one to swallow. It's definitely going to be on my mind for a while."
