Six-Game Homestand Kicks Off Versus Missouri State

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan will spend the next three weeks at the friendly confines of the CMU Field Hockey Complex and welcome Missouri State for a pair of Mid-American Conference games this weekend to get things rolling.
The Chippewas (3-5, 1-1 MAC) welcome the Bears (3-6, 0-2 MAC) to Mount Pleasant for noon games on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday's contest marks "Success in the '70s" Day in which the 1976 field hockey team will be honored prior the start of the contest. The '76 squad is being inducted into the Central Michigan Athletics Hall of Fame Friday inside McGuirk Arena.
All-Time Against
CMU is 22-11-1 all-time versus MSU and has not lost at home to the Bears in over 18 years. The Maroon and Gold have won the last 12 contests played in Mount Pleasant,with the Bears' last win coming on Sept. 12, 1993, 1-0.
Scouting the Bears
MSU ranks second in the MAC in scoring average, scoring 2.19 goals per contest. Its offense is led by Casey Bayliss, whose eight goals and 20 points rank second and third in the MAC. Bayliss ranks first in the conference with 3.33 points per game.
The Bears defense sits at the other spectrum of the league, ranking fifth in goals-against average (3.62). They have been outscored, 38-23, on the season and outshot 156-96.
Approaching 200
Head Coach Cristy Freese enters the weekend just one win shy of 200 for her career at the helm of the Chippewas. Freese is the program's all-time wins leader with 199 and has 206 career wins, having recorded seven at Davis & Elkins prior to joining the Maroon and Gold.
If We Just Score Three Goals...
The Chippewas have combined to score 15 goals in their three wins this season, while scoring a combined three goals in their five losses. CMU has won 41 games in a row when it scores three goals or more. The last loss CMU suffered when scoring three goals or more came on Oct. 11, 2003 to Ball State, 4-3.
In the Cage
Junior goalkeeper Anastasia Netto has turned herself into one of the best keepers in the MAC, posting a goals-against average of 1.74. Netto ranks second in the MAC, behind only Ohio's Jen McGill's 0.91 average, and 22nd in the nation.
Immelman's Immediate Impact
Freshman Cayleigh Immelman has made an immediate impact in her first season with the Chippewas. Immelman leads CMU with five goals and 12 points, ranking eighth and ninth in the MAC respectively.
Sihota Earns MAC Honor
Senior back Brooke Sihota was named the MAC's Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday after scoring her first goal of the season and helping the Chippewas post a 1-1 record on the road last weekend to open conference play.
Lee Gets Rollin'
Senior Paulina Lee had a break out week offensively last week, scoring two goals and tallying two assists for six points. The senior captain is tied for the team lead with four assists on the season. Lee will be honored at Saturday's football game versus Northern Illinois for being named the 31st recipient of the Bill Boyden Award. She is the first field hockey player in program history to earn the award.
