Weekend Notes
Dye Earns MAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors
Dye scored two goals to lead the Chippewas to a 2-0 weekend over Ball State and Pacific, increasing her team-leading season goal count to seven. Dye tied the game, 1-1, against Ball State on Saturday with a direct shot off a penalty corner, the first goal of five for the Chippewas en route to the team's first MAC win of the season. She also scored the Chippewas' opening goal of their 2-1 win over Pacific on Sunday. She is already just three goals short of her career-high goal count of 10. Dye is the first offensive player for CMU to win the award, and is the third Chippewa overall. Senior back Emily Girasole and senior goalkeeper Anastasia Netto won Defensive Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks earlier this season.
Offense Starting to Roll
The Chippewas' seven goals this past weekend were the most they have scored in a two-game stretch this season, and Saturday's five goals were a season-high for the team. When the Chippewas score two or more goals they are 4-2 this season.
Keeping It Close
Eight of the Chippewas' 11 games this season have been decided by one goal, and the Chippewas are 4-4 in those matches. Saturday's game against Ball State, a 5-3 win, was within one goal until the final two minutes of the match when the Chippewas tallied the game-clinching goal.
Among the MAC Elite
Erin Dye, Cayleigh Immelman, Bailey McKeon and Anastasia Netto are all among the top two in MAC statistical categories. Dye is tied for second in the conference with seven goals, Immelman is second with five assists, Netto is second in goals against average at 2.6 and McKeon is second in game-winning goals with two.
