MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan Volleyball student manager James Williams was recognized as the Michigan Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Major of the Year.
The organization, MAHPERD, annually names one student from each state university with a physical education major program. The Physical Education and Sciences Department faculty nominated Williams for the prestigious award.
"James is one of the most outstanding staff members I have had the pleasure to work with," CMU volleyball coach Erik Olson said. "He was instrumental in assisting in the office, the practice gym, as well as matches. He brings sincerity and honest feedback to help make us better. He is most deserving of this award."
Based on Williams' work ethic, enthusiasm for the profession, and for actively seeking out experience for teaching and coaching during his undergraduate career, he fits the criteria for this award.
Williams, a senior from Haslett, Mich., was honored at the MAHPERD convention in November.
