Mount Pleasant, Mich. - The Central Michigan volleyball program will look to continue its growth through spring exhibition matches this weekend when it travels to Oakland University.
The Chippewas played four two-set matches last Saturday at Northwood University and head coach Erik Olson feels his team is progressing well through the spring.
"We're doing a much better job within our gym culture of training at a higher level," Olson said. "We have put together a pretty good product last weekend, but we came out a little slow in the afternoon. We are doing things we have not seen from our group before. The potential is very high, but we are at a tipping point and we need to make sure we keep working hard."
CMU will compete on one final date next Saturday, April 19 when it travels to the University of Michigan before wrapping up spring practice. The time spent in the gym and competing is valuable to preparing for sucess come the 2014 season.
"There are no records being kept, but the experience is very, very important," Olson said. "It is vital to get these games in. We used all four of our spring dates because we are young and we need to get some matches under our belt. We have to take advantage of every moment. It is not about winning or losing, its about the process and putting an emphasis on every single contact."
