Cox, DeLamielleure and Sexauer Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Seven Central Michigan student-athletes were named to the 2014 Academic All-Mid-American Conference softball team.
Three Chippewas - Trista Cox, Cory DeLamielleure and CarolAnn Sexauer - were named to the First Team, while teammates Kristen Kuhlman, Evelyn Lorimer, Chelsea Sundberg and Raechel Zahrn received honorable mention.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.2 grade point average or better and appear in at least 50 percent of her team's games. Freshman and first-year transfers are ineligible.
"We are delighted that our student-athletes have been honored for their work in the classroom as well as on the field," CMU coach Margo Jonker said. "We take pride in being student-athletes."
Cox, a junior third baseman from Indianapolis, led the Chippewas with a .343 batting average, 12 home runs and 40 RBI. She also topped CMU in runs (31), hits (58), total bases (106) and slugging percentage (.627).
DeLamielleure, a senior catcher from St. Clair Shores, hit .280 with eight home runs and 29 RBI and a team-high 14 doubles. She also stole 15 bases in 17 attempts.
Sexauer, a junior shortstop from Canton, was second on the squad in both batting average (.322) and slugging percentage (.554). She also had seven home runs and 23 RBI.
Kuhlman, a junior pitcher/outfielder from Portage, made 33 starts in the outfield for the Chippewas, hitting .188 with three doubles and seven RBI.
Lorimer, a sophomore outfielder from Spring Lake, hit .269 with three home runs and 16 RBI. She also utilized her speed, collecting four triples and 18 stolen bases (in 19 attempts), both team bests.
Sundberg, a pitcher from Marshall, finished her senior season 9-8 with a 3.51 earned run average. She appeared in 26 games, making 18 starts. She struck out 53 and walked 25 in 107 2/3 innings.
Zahrn, a senior outfielder, hit .276 and stole 10 bases in 15 attempts.
