Softball Names Four to CSC Academic All-District Team

Four Chippewa softball players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Four Central Michigan softball players including Rachel Cairo, Brooklyn Compau, Grace Koenig and Cierra Laska were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District following the 2025-26 academic year. To be eligible for the award, players must have competed in 90% of the teams' contests and boasted a 3.5+ GPA for the academic year.
Cairo, Compau and Koenig are honorees for the second consecutive year; first year student-athletes (freshmen and transfers are not eligible for the nomination.
The honorees names, year, hometown, major and cumulative GPA are listed below:
Rachel Cairo, junior, Warren, Mich., sport management, 3.66
Brooklyn Compau, junior, Frankenmuth, Mich., double major: special education, teaching students with cognitive impairments and teaching grades 3-6, 3.71
Grace Koenig, junior, Imlay City, Mich., mechanical engineering, 3.74
Cierra Laska, senior, Byron Center, Mich., double major: special education – teaching students with cognitive impairments and teaching grades PK-3, 3.91
As a team for the 2025-26 academic year, the Chippewas earned a team GPA of a 3.59 with a 3.64 GPA in the spring semester. Two student athletes, Ashley Bila and Keira Tolmie earned a 4.0 GPA through the spring semester. In the spring, 18 of the Chippewas' 19 student-athletes earned a 3.0 or higher GPA, 15 earned a 3.5 or higher.
