Emily Price Joins Softball Staff as Pitching Coach

Fresh off her fourth consecutive championship with the Atlanta Smoke in the Professional Softball League, Emily Price joins the CMU softball staff ahead of the 2027 season.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Cental Michigan head softball coach McCall Salmon announced the hiring of new assistant coach and pitching coach Emily Price on Wednesday afternoon. Price joins the staff after leading the Atlanta Smoke to a Professional Softball League championship.
After a standout career at Western Illinois, Price served as a graduate assistant at Louisiana-Monroe in the 2025 and 2026 seasons..
Hailing from Charleston, Illinois, Price attended the University of Missouri Saint Louis in 2020-21 before concluding her career at Western Illinois for two seasons. Price was named an All-Summit League pitcher in 2023, ranking among the league's top 10 in innings pitched (152 2/3), strikeouts (133), walks (39) and home runs allowed (2). She threw in 35 of the Leathernecks' 50 games, completing nine of them including one shutout. Her 133 strikeouts placed her in the top 100 nationally.
Following her collegiate career, Price played professionally in Australia and Italy and just finished her rookie season in the Professional Softball League, compiling 14 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings. Against the Chattanooga Chill, she struck out five over batters five frames.
At CMU, Price will inherit a bullpen with two returnees in Brooklyn Compau and Aubrey Strelow. There are two incoming freshman pitchers in Kayla Blumenschein and Chloe Compau.
Last season, the Central Michigan pitching staff compiled a 4.71 ERA in Mid-American Conference play. Strelow led the Chippewas in MAC games with a 3.57 ERA and struck out 43 of the 128 batters she faced, holding opponents to a .236 average. Compau tallied 46 strikeouts against MAC opponents and 90 through the entire season.
