McCall Salmon announced the hiring of new assistant coach and pitching coach, Emily Price on August 26, 2026. Price joins the staff after winning a championship with the Atlanta Smoke in the Professional Softball League as a pitcher.

After a standout career at Western Illinois, Price served as a graduate assistant at Louisiana-Monroe for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Hailing from Charleston, Illinois, Price attended the University of Missouri Saint Louis in the 2020-21 seasons, before transferring to Western Illinois to finish her career. During her collegiate athletic career, Price was named a Summit League All-Conference honoree after the 2023 season. During her senior season in 2024, Price ranked in the top 10 in the conference in innings pitched (152.2), strikeouts (133), walks allowed (39), and home runs allowed (2). During that season, she threw a complete game shutout against SIUE and tossed nine complete games, pitching in 35 of the 50 games the Leathernecks played. She also ranked No. 93 in the country with 133 strikeouts.

While in college, Price was a two-time Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Commissioners Honor Roll selection (2023 and 2024), was a part of the Summit League Academic Honor Roll in 2022 and 2023, and earned NCAA Academic Honors Fraternity honors in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Following her collegiate career, Price played professionally in Australia and just finished her rookie season in the Professional Softball League. In the summer of 2026, Price threw 20.2 innings striking out 14 batters. Against the Chattanooga Chill, Price threw five innings and struck out five batters.

At CMU, Price will inherit a bullpen with two returning arms in Brooklyn Compau and Aubrey Strelow. There are two incoming freshman pitchers in Kayla Blumenshein and Chloe Compau.

Last season, the Central Michigan pitching staff compiled a 4.71 ERA in conference play. Strelow led the team in MAC games with a 3.57 ERA and struck out 43 of the 128 her batters faced, holding opponents to a .236 average. Compau tallied 46 strikeouts against MAC opponents and 90 through the entire season.
