Chippewas Complete Weekend Sweep

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Jordan Bueter and Angie White had eight kills apiece Saturday as the Central Michigan volleyball swept Toledo, 25-23, 25-20, 25-18 in a Mid-American Conference match at McGuirk Arena.
The win came on the heels of a 3-1 MAC victory Friday night over Ball State, and it marked the first time since Oct. 25-26, 2013, that the Chippewas have swept a two-match conference weekend, a stretch of 15 weekends (30 matches).
"We just took the energy we had yesterday and continued to build," said White, who hit at .438 and had three block assists. "We're just having a lot more fun. We're coming together, we're more of a family. We're just having a blast. Winning is fun."
The Chippewas improved to 8-11 overall, 3-3 MAC.
CMU hit at .263 and had five aces, three from Laura Wilson. Toledo finished with a .119 hitting percentage.
The key, assistant coach Adam Rollman said, was patience.
"They're very scrappy, they get everything up, they're very well coached," he said of the Rockets, 3-16, 0-6. "They just go out for everything and we kind of needed to remind ourselves to stay patient and just stick with it.
"An overall calm, steady, focused performance. We just did a great job of staying steady throughout when we had a few errors, or they had a great moment, we just kept on going."
CMU setter Kathia Sanchez finished with 28 assists and block assists, while freshman libero Jamison Wolffis made 12 digs and Haley Barker added eight. Jessica Meichtry finished with seven kills.
Rachel Vidourek had seven kills to lead the Rockets, who dropped their seventh straight match.
CMU hits the road next weekend for matches at Miami (Ohio) and Bowling Green. The RedHawks are 12-6 overall and 4-1 in the MAC; Bowling Green is 5-14, 1-5.
"We've been executing really well this weekend," Bueter said. "That helped a whole lot.
"When one unit isn't down in any type of way, we all function so well. Even if there are a couple throw-off plays from a single unit, like passing, setting, hitting, we all make up for it. So I think that really helps the entire flow of things."
