
Volleyball Hosts Ball State, Toledo

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Central Michigan volleyball team will look to gain some ground in the Mid-American Conference standings this weekend as it plays host to Ball State and Toledo.
The Chippewas will square off against Ball State on Friday and Toledo on Saturday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. at McGuirk Arena.
CMU is 6-11, 1-3 in MAC. BSU is 9-9, 3-1, and Toledo is 3-14, 0-4.
The Cardinals rank third in the MAC in opponent hitting percentage and sixth in assists and kills per set. BSU senior Jenna Spadafora is the third-ranked setter in the conference.
The Chippewas rank third in hitting percentage and blocks per set.
CMU senior middle blocker Angie White ranks sixth in the MAC in blocks per set.
Ball State is one of three teams tied for first place in the MAC West standings at 3-1. Northern Illinois and Western Michigan also hold 3-1 records.
Ball State split its MAC matches last weekend, beating Northern Illinois and falling to Western Michigan. The Cardinals have won three of their last four starts.
The Chippewas dropped both of their league matches last weekend, falling at Eastern Michigan and then losing at home to Kent State.
Central Michigan will be presented with an opportunity to take advantage of a struggling Toledo team on Saturday. The Rockets have dropped five consecutive matches.
Starting on Friday the Chippewas will play seven of their next nine games in front of the home supporters at McGuirk Arena.
