Chippewas Celebrate 2014-15 Season

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan women's basketball program celebrated the 2014-15 season at the team's annual banquet Sunday.
In addition to individual awards, the Chippewas honored their five seniors, Jas'Mine Bracey, Crystal Bradford, Jessica Green, Lorreal Jones and Kerby Tamm.
Bracey, Bradford and Green end their CMU careers as part of the 26-member 1,000 point club. Bracey and Bradford also finish their established CMU careers as just two of five players to score 1,000 points and pull down 1,000 rebounds.
Tamm was named the Chippewa Award winner as the team's most valuable player. The senior captain played in all 31 games for the Chippewas leading the team and the MAC in minutes played (35.7). Tamm made a team-high 90 triples this season, lifting her to second all-time in career three-point field goal percentage (.395). She became just the third player in program history to sink 200 triples, finishing her career with 211, third-best in program history.
Tamm also earned the program's Academic Excellence Award for posting a team-high 3.63 grade-point average as an exercise science major. Tamm will graduate next May.
Junior Da'Jourie Turner was awarded with the team's `Most Improved Player' after starting all 18 MAC contests, averaging 11.6 points per game during conference play, 16th- best in the MAC. Turner got to the free throw line a team-high 141 times, sinking 100 free throws this season. She dished out 2.8 assists per game compared to 1.5 a season ago, her 3.4 assists per game in MAC play was good for fifth-best in the conference. Turner also doubled her steals from a year ago, tallying 46 this season.
Jones earned the team's Practice Player Award for continuing to display intensity day in and day out during practices.
Turner and Jones also received Co-Defensive Player of the Year Awards.
Junior Chelsea Lynn was given the program's Heart and Hustle Award for demonstrating tremendous passion and excitement for her teammates and the game of basketball.
Freshman Cassandra Breen received the Dee Pommerenk Award for explemifying a positive attitude, teamwork and willingness to contribute maximum effort regardless of ability or individual statistics.
