MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan softball team will celebrate Alumnae Weekend this weekend when it entertains Kent State and Buffalo at Margo Jonker Stadium.
The Chippewas will retire Pam Stanley's No. 4 jersey in a mid-game ceremony during Saturday's game with Buffalo.
Members of the 1985 Mid-American Conference Tournament champion Chippewa team will be honored on the field before Saturday's game, which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Stanley, who was enshrined in the Central Michigan Marcy Weston Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002, is one of the very best ever to wear a Chippewa uniform.
She played at CMU from 1989-92, and was a three-time All-American, a two-time MAC Player of the Year, a four-time All-MAC selection, and she helped lead the Chippewas to the MAC title in 1991.
Stanley remains CMU's career leader in batting average (.377), hits (255), stolen bases (112) and runs (143). She also ranks among the top 10 in games, at-bats and triples.
She also holds single-season CMU marks for runs (52), hits (80) and stolen bases (46), and her .404 average in 1991 ranks as the fourth best in school history, and her .389 average in `92 ranks as the seventh best.
Stanley was named to the Central Michigan University Softball Silver Anniversary Team.
