Chippewas Lacrosse Picked Eighth in Atlantic Sun

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan lacrosse team was picked to finish eighth in the nine-team Atlantic Sun Conference in a poll of league coaches.
The Chippewas begin their inaugural season of lacrosse on Feb. 7 when they play at Michigan in a non-conference game.
CMU's first home match at the university's brand new soccer/lacrosse stadium is slated for March 11 against Delaware State.
The Chippewas' first Atlantic Sun match is slated for March 30 at Detroit.
Jacksonville, which has won the last three regular-season and tournament championships, was picked to finish first in the conference in the poll. The Dolphins received eight of nine first-place votes and 80 points.
Old Dominion received the other first-place vote and finished second in the poll with 69 points. The Monarchs are followed by Detroit, Furman, Stetson, Kennesaw State, Mercer, CMU and Howard.
Jackonsville's Danielle Della Rocca and Erika Brager were named the league's preseason player and defensive player of the year, respectively.
CMU's Jocelyne Lamay and Anna Schoonover were named on the league's list of players to watch. Both are freshmen, as are 25 of the 26 players on the CMU roster. Both are midfielders.
