The senior goalie retained her title as the league’s top goalkeeper after a convincing performance in 15-9 victory at Kent State
CLEVELAND — Central Michigan senior Leila Kahler (Spring Lake, Mich. / Spring Lake) was named the Mid-American Conference Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Kahler recorded the seventh double-digit performance on the season in saves, tying her career high with 14 stops in an important MAC victory at Kent State Saturday, 15-9.
Â
After a fast-paced, back-and-forth first quarter, Kahler tallied 13 saves to just four goals allowed—a remarkable .765 save percentage. The contest marked back to back outings with a .600-plus save percentage after a career-best .625 was logged in the 7-6 victory at Youngstown State (April 11).
Â
Tuesday's selection is nearly two years to the date for CMU's last repeat selection as Alexa Martel earned the honor on April 16 and 23 of 2024. Kahler's selection last week was nearly one year to the date of the program's pervious MAC weekly honoree, when both Martel and Jozy Allen were recognized by the league office.
Â
Central Michigan holds sole possession of the fourth and final seed in the upcoming MAC Championship tournament on the campus of Robert Morris University. A victory Saturday (April 25) over second-place Akron, or a Robert Morris loss against Detroit Mercy, clinches a berth into the event for the Chippewas.
Â
Central Michigan Lacrosse will recognize Kahler, Kelsey Barratt and Victoria Chesson for senior day pregame against the Zips.
