Local Product Averi Gamble Joins Chippewas

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - A player with strong ties to Central Michigan and the Mount Pleasant area has joined the CMU women's basketball team.
Chippewa coach Sue Guevara announced Monday that former Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy standout Averi Gamble has joined her team.
Gamble, the daughter of CMU men's basketball assistant and former NBA player Kevin Gamble, is a 6-foot-3 center who in 2016 led the Irish to the Class D state championship game while earning the Class D Player of the Year Award from the Associated Press.
"She knows how to work - she's a very hard worker," Guevara said. "She knows how to win and our players have really embraced her. She's going to benefit from this and so are we. I'm just really happy to have her.
Gamble scored more than 1,200 points during her career at Sacred Heart. She earned four letters in basketball, three in volleyball, and was named the Morning Sun Player of the Year in 2016.
