
Softball Drops 3-2 Decision To South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. - Monica Santos hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning Sunday as South Florida handed Central Michigan a 3-2 loss in the Chippewas' final game at the Under Armour Invitational.
CMU (6-9) is off on Monday and will play a doubleheader against Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday (1 p.m.) in Clearwater.
Rachel Knapp (4-4) went the distance in the circle in taking the loss or the Chippewas. She allowed four hits and struck out six.
Katelyn Rentschler gave CMU a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning. She finished with two hits to lead the Chippewas at the plate. It was her second homer of the season.
CarolAnn Sexauer, Sara Hansen and Erika Underwood added a single apiece.
South Florida's Cheyenne Eggens (5-0) earned the victory. She allowed two hits and struck out four over four innings. Erica Nunn went the final three frames for the save. South Florida is 11-9.
