
Chippewas Split Pair With Florida Gulf Coast

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Sydney Heath had two doubles including one in the fourth inning that drove in two runs Tuesday to lead the Central Michigan softball team to a 3-2 victory over Florida Gulf Coast in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader.
The Eagles came back to take the nightcap, 2-1. CMU (7-10) plays Fairfield (4-5) on Wednesday (11 a.m.).
Rachael Knapp (5-4) went the distance for the win in game one.
Lacy Tolfree had two hits including a double for the Chippewas, while Katelyn Rentschler added two hits.
Hanna Warren allowed 10 hits, walked four and struck out two in taking the loss in game two.
Allison Curtis had two hits to lead CMU's seven-hit attack. Tolfree, Rentschler Erika Underwood, Danielle Marlink and Kayla Noch added a hit apiece.
Florida Gulf Coast is 12-8.
