BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Offensive consistency is something the Central Michigan softball team has been searching for since it opened Mid-American Conference play.
The Chippewas weren't able to find it Friday, as the Chippewas scored a combined three runs, dropping both games of their doubleheader with Bowling Green.
The Chippewas fell, 4-2, in the opener, then dropped the nightcap, 5-1. The third and final game of the series is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.
Central Michigan is 15-20-1 overall with a 2-7-1 mark in the conference. Bowling Green is 16-23, 4-6.
With pitcher Rachael Knapp unavailable due to illness, the Chippewas turned to sophomore Hanna Warren in the circle for both games on Friday.
Warren (6-7) took the loss in game one, surrendering four runs on five hits while walking four and striking out two. She pitched 4 2/3 innings in the nightcap, giving up one run on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Lauren Vaccaro (1-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief for CMU in game two, giving up four runs (one earned) on three hits to take the loss.
Sydney Heath, Sara Hansen and Rachel Vieira tallied two hits apiece in the opener, and Lacy Tolfree drove in the Chippewas' lone run.
Heath, Allison Curtis and Danielle Marlink each had a hit for the Chippewas.
Braiden Dillow and Kiley Sosby registered the wins, respectively, for Bowling Green.
Dillow and Chelsea Raker had two RBI each in the opener and Marisa Shook and Morgan Evangelista tallied two RBI in game two.
