
CMU Volleyball Perfect At Valpo

VALPARAISO, Ind. - The Central Michigan volleyball team defeated Southeast Missouri State in four sets on Saturday, completing a perfect 3-0 run through the Valparaiso Popcorn Classic.
The Chippewas defeated South Dakota State and the host Crusaders on Friday and are 5-4 on the season. They downed Southeast Missouri, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16, 25-21, on Saturday.
Taylor Robertson recorded 18 kills to lead the Chippewas, while Jordan Bueter added 17 and Paige Carey had 10.
CMU senior setter Kathia Sanchez earned co-Most Valuable Player honors in the tournament, and was joined on the seven-player all-tournament team by Bueter.
Sanchez recorded 46 assists, 23 digs and three aces - all team highs - in Saturday's victory, during which the Chippewas finished with a .249 attack percentage. She totaled 133 assists on the weekend.
Carey led the Chippewas with seven blocks, while Jayla Wesley added six. Wesley finished with nine kils and finished with a .438 attack percentage.
Robertson added 19 digs, while Megan Kern had 15 for CMU.
Bueter, a junior outside hitter, finished the tournament with 43 kills, 45 digs and seven aces.
The Chippewas go next weekend to the Central Florida Holiday Inn Orlando/UCF Challenge where they are scheduled to face Central Arkansas, North Carolina Asheville and Central Florida.
